Agreement brings automation company to India

An Oxford Sensor Technology product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 23, 2007

A new agreement will see Tespa, selling, installing and providing post-sales support to OST customers throughout India.

An agreement between Tespa Tool and Oxford Sensor Technology has opened the door to greater advanced automation in India.

Tespa Tools is one of India's leading metrology, inspection and engineering companies.

Oxford Sensor Technology (OST) is a specialist in the design and manufacture of vision sensor systems for robot guidance, inspection and welding applications.

Despite lower manufacturing costs than in Europe, India's massive growth in output and a drive for higher quality is resulting in an increasing demand for greater process automation.

This is a demand which can be fully met with OST's flexible product range and Tespa's technical ability.

The majority of OST's systems are used in vehicle assembly and the guidance of welding manipulators and robots.

India is a large, and expanding, market for both these technologies.

Last year automotive production in India increased by 15% and a similar increase is anticipated this year.

The agreement will see Tespa, selling, installing and providing post-sales support to customers throughout India.

Manufacture of customer-specific mounting equipment and tooling will also be undertaken in India.

As engineering output declines throughout Europe, Oxford Sensor Technology has embarked upon a strategy to exploit its expertise, high-quality products and technical superiority in new markets and geographical territories.

Key to this strategy will be the formation of strong bonds with other companies to ensure local support from an international company.
