Anthony Best Dynamics and OxTS have combined their expertise to deliver a synchronous robot for repeatable testing of advanced driver assistance systems.

At some point during the development process of advanced driver assistance systems it becomes necessary to repeat certain tests accurately And during benchmarking this exact repetition is essential

Anthony Best Dynamics and OxTS have combined their expertise to deliver a synchronous robot.

The synchronous robot controls its path and speed based on time from the GPS clock and timing accuracy is better than 1ms.

Multiple-vehicle tests can be performed by installing synchronous robots in each vehicle.

It is the accuracy of the robot though that makes it so impressive.

In steady-state conditions the robots can position themselves on the road within about 50mm.

While accelerating or braking the accuracy is about 400mm, with repeatability at about 200mm.

The synchronous robot requires two in-vehicle robots from ABD, an RT-Range from OxTS, two RT3002 inertial/GPS navigation systems and an RT-Base.

The package can be installed quickly in a vehicle, making it suitable for benchmarking as well as long term development.

It is estimated that the total costs of accidents in the European Union amount to Eur 160 billion per year.

Accident avoidance systems that can improve safety of vehicles are able to save economies large amounts of money.

This, in turn, is focusing manufacturers on advanced driver assistance systems, and a significant amount of research will be done in the near future.

The synchronous robot is ideally placed for reducing the time spent on development and testing.
