Strong growth for Motion Control Products

A Parvalux Electric Motors product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 4, 2000

Since Parvalux acquired Motion Control Products Ltd in 1998, turnover has trebled, staff level has doubled and three main product lines have been established

Parvalux Electric Motors Ltd, highly successful in its own field - small electric motors and gearboxes - for over 50 years, foresaw the need to expand its product base with the acquisition of Motion Control Products Ltd in 1998.

At that time Parvalux was recognised as having one of the most up-to-date manufacturing plants in Europe with the most complete range of motors and geared motor units produced by a UK manufacturer, but only up to 300W in size.

The product range from Motion Control Products Ltd was much larger - up to 300kW AC, 9kW DC - but lacked specific product lines and the competitive edge on which to build a reputation.

Turnover stood at £500,000 with a staff of three people.

Today, turnover has trebled, staff level has doubled and three main product lines have been established: small dc brushed and brushless servo units, ac induction units with gearboxes to match and servo drives.

Product quality is of the highest order and prices are probably the most competitive in the UK.

Motion Control now represents the IMS range of stepper drives, a low cost, high quality range of OEM full, half and microstepping drives.

These include PCB mounted, open frame and packaged drives with on-board controllers.

Stepper motors include tin can, nema 2.3 inch and 3.4 inch with gearboxes to suit.

AC and DC motors and geared motor units include low inertia cup rotor DC motors from 10mm - 30mm diameter, AC and DC motors with planetary, right angle, spur and worm wheel from 1W - 2kW output power, DC brushless servo motors in 40, 57 and 86mm frames and AC brushless servodrives and motors up to 30kW with open frame hollow shaft motors.

Motion Control Products will be exhibiting at the Hanover Fair in 2001 alongside Parvalux.
