Accumulator Safety Blocks meet EC
directive

Parker Hannifin has introduced a new range of Accumulator Safety Blocks which incorporate all necessary protection, isolation and discharge functions for operating pressures up to 350 bar

The Hydraulics Group of Parker Hannifin has introduced a new range of Accumulator Safety Blocks which incorporate all necessary protection, isolation and discharge functions for operating pressures up to 350 bar - as required under the Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23/EC) The Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23/EC) becomes mandatory from 29th May 2002

The Directive arises from the European Community's programme for the elimination of technical barriers to trade.

Its purpose is to harmonise national laws of member states regarding the design, manufacture and conformity assessment of pressure equipment and assemblies of pressure equipment.

Three models of the new Accumulator Safety Block are available - the ASB20, ASB32 and ASB64.

The ASB20 and ASB32 each incorporate a lever-operated shut-off valve and a manually-operated pressure relief/discharge valve, whilst the ASB64 also incorporates a second manually-operated pressure relief/discharge valve to allow flow rates up to 300 l/min at 330 bar.

An additional electrically-operated discharge valve is also available.

The pressure relief/discharge valve protects the accumulator in service and enables the accumulator to be discharged manually by lowering the pressure relief valve setting to zero.

Two versions are offered: type SVH which is fitted with a handwheel; and type SVK which is adjusted using a screwdriver.

The modular design of the pressure relief discharge valve allows valves with different pressure relief settings to be readily substituted.

Until the 28th May 2002, manufacturers of pressure equipment and assemblies have the choice of following the Community regime - the Pressure Equipment Directive - or continuing to comply with existing national legislation.

After that date, most pressure equipment and assemblies placed on the market will need to comply with the Directive. Request a free brochure from Parker Hannifin ...
