Piston accumulators on Container Handler

Parker Hannifin piston accumulators are specified on Kalmar's new RT 250 Rough Terrain Container Handler as part of the electronic-hydraulic 4-axle steering system.

Parker Hannifin piston accumulators are specified on Kalmar's new RT 250 Rough Terrain Container Handler as part of the electronic-hydraulic 4-axle steering system Parker is also supplying directional valves, manifolds, cartridges and filters for the RT 250

The RT 250 is an entirely new type of rough terrain reachstacker designed for easy transportation by road trailer, by sea or by air, without the need for it to be dismantled.

Primarily designed for civilian use, the new RT 250 has also been adapted for military purposes and Kalmar has, through its US subsidiary, Kalmar RT Center, won its largest order ever - a 5-year contract to the US Army Tank Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM).

The US army contract demands that every machine delivered must be totally identical, down to the very last nut! Powered by a 375 hp Cummins QSM 11 diesel engine, the RT 250 is road transportable, featuring four-wheel steering and with a maximum travel speed of 15 mph.

The machine converts from the 156 inch tall OALH on the work site to a lowered height of just 118 inches.

The conversion takes less than 30 minutes and the operator can do it with no tools! When loaded on a 24 inch high transport bed, the overhead clearance is under 12 feet high.

A pressure controlled, variable displacement axial piston pump provides hydraulic pressure and flow to the steering of the RT 250.

A Parker 'A Series' piston accumulator is used to supplement pump flow during periods of high demand, eliminating any adverse effects caused by pressure drop as the pump responds to rapid steering inputs.

The hydraulically controlled tophandler adapts to both 20 ft and 40 ft containers weighing up to 25 tonnes. Request a free brochure from Parker Hannifin ...
