Parker Hannifin MMB heavy-duty hydraulic cylinders were specified for control functions on a recently commissioned GBP 2 million coil slitting and banding line.

Parker Hannifin MMB heavy-duty hydraulic cylinders are specified for control functions on a GBP 2 million coil slitting and banding line recently commissioned at the Howard Perry Division of Perry Willenhall Steel Service Centres located at Willenhall in the West Midlands The purpose-built line was manufactured by Heinrich Georg and was designed to meet the specific customer requirements of the PWS Group within the wide range of markets which it serves

The new line complements the existing coiled steel slitting capacity of the division which, in addition, is able to offer panel flat sheet, decoiled plate, rectangular blanks and pressed shapes.

Heinrich Georg has long been recognised as a premier OEM manufacturer of machines for the world's steel industries which feature only the best engineered components and systems available.

The slitter is able to process a maximum coil weight of 25 tonne within a thickness range of 0.7 to 6.3mm at line speeds of up to 300m/min.

The maximum number of cuts is 24 dependent upon the material quality and thickness.

Qualities of material processed include a comprehensive range of strip mill products including hot rolled coil, both dry and pickled and oiled, cold reduced coil and a wide range of coated products.

The line comprises several operating stations which control uncoiling, the cropping shear, slitting, tensioning, recoiling and packaging, the automatic tool change facility and a scrap removal machine which accepts scrap from both sides of the coil.

Each machine in the process has up to five hydraulic functions, each function being controlled by two Parker MMB hydraulic cylinders.

Parker's MMB 160bar heavy-duty 'mill' cylinders are designed for use in arduous applications such as steel mills where a rugged durable cylinder with a clean external design is required, making them a natural choice for Heinrich Georg's slitting and packaging line.

The cylinders control the shearing actions on the cropping shear, the automatic tool change, the control gate open and close, forward and reverse, pusher plate up and down, and forward and back movements.

On the scrap removal system, the MMB cylinders control the drive in and out, crusher up and down, and injection in and out movements. Request free introductory details about products from Parker Hannifin ...
