President nears retirement

A Parker Hannifin - Parker Sales UK product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 21, 2005

Klaus Geissler will retire from his position as President of Parker's European Seal Group on 31st July 2005.

Klaus Geissler will leave Parker Hannifin Corporation on 31st July 2005.

The 65-year-old manager with a degree in business, who had been appointed to the position of President of Parker's European Seal Group in January 2002 with responsibility for eight plants in seven countries, will retire.

Geissler originally joined Pradifa Jager in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany, in 1976 as Managing Director and Head of Commercial Administration.

Three years later, the company was acquired by Parker to become the headquarters of the corporation's European Packing Division.

As the division's General Manager, Geissler grew the business with great success, developing it into a European market leader for hydraulic and pneumatic seals.

At Geissler's initiative Parker acquired the Danish company, Polar Seals, a manufacturer of PTFE sealing systems, in 1990.

Only five years later a new, significantly larger plant was built at Polar Seals' location in Helsingor, Denmark.

In the same year of 1995 Geissler was responsible for opening Parker's first manufacturing location in Eastern Europe, in Sadska (Czech Republic).

Initially launched on a small scale, the location saw such a successful development within a short period of time that the Czech company moved into new, modern facilities in 1999, which were expanded again as early as in 2002.

Geissler's achievements were recognised in particular by his promotion to president of the European Seal Group, membership in Parker Hannifin Germany's Senior Management Board and European Management Meetings as Heinz Droxner's successor.

In addition, Geissler in 2002 assumed the responsibility of co-ordinating the Seal Group's Asian activities and started to chair the Management Review Board for the Czech Republic, which he had initiated.

Geissler is a member of the MDA (Motion, Drive and Automation) board of directors of Deutsche Messe, Hanover, and founding member of the VDMA Fluid Seals working group.

In addition, he holds a number of honourary posts in various organisations of the business and industrial communities as well as charitable institutions at local and regional levels.

After retiring, Geissler will continue to serve as a member of various supervisory and advisory boards, including membership in Parker Hannifin's German supervisory board.
