On 4 August 1968, the Parker Corporation's first manufacturing plant for seals in Europe, Parker Hannifin Dichtungs , was founded in Pleidelsheim near Ludwigsburg (Germany).
40 years after the Parker Corporation set up its plant in Pleidelsheim, near Ludwigsburg in Germany, O-rings are still the main product made there.
In addition to O-rings, the plant now manufactures back rings and precision-moulded parts from various materials.
Today, the Parker O-ring Division produces these universal sealing elements in around 300 standard and special compounds for temperature ranges between -60 and +310C, with resistance to virtually all media.
Around 1.5 million O-rings, back rings and precision-moulded parts are produced and sold every day.
The company serves customers with exacting technical and quality demands, such as the automotive sector, measuring and control technology, life sciences and aerospace.
These industries also spurred the company to strive for consistently higher achievements in the areas of process technology, material and product development, always aimed at offering increasingly application-specific sealing solutions delivering consistently higher levels of performance.
Steadily decreasing manufacturing tolerances and tighter requirements regarding shape and surface variances, temperature and media resistance represent constant challenges along with the quality of customer support and delivery capacities.
At the moment, the mixing department at the Pleidelsheim plant is being modernised, while the extension of the development and manufacturing areas are on the agenda for the next few years.

Parker Hannifin, the provider of motion and control technologies, has developed a hydraulic saw motor that automatically maintains an optimum cutting speed of 40m/s for 35 per cent faster cutting.
