Sealing materials suit clean diesel engines

A Parker Hannifin - Parker Sales UK product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 4, 2009

Parker-Pradifa has developed a series of sealing materials that are suitable for use with Adblue, which reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions in SCR exhaust gas systems of diesel-powered vehicles.

A large number of O-rings are used in the Adblue dosing module.

They provide sealing in the filter element, in pressure and temperature sensors, in connectors or in control valves.

With very low-volume swelling and minimal changes to its mechanical properties, the peroxidically cross-linked EPDM material E8556 (70 Shore A) offers high resistance to Adblue at temperatures up to 100C.

In addition, a plasticiser-free EPDM compound with 60 Shore A is available.

The HNBR material N3831 (70 Shore A) exhibits good media resistance to Adblue, in combination with sufficient diesel fuel resistance.

High chemical resistance to Adblue - even at 150C - is assured by specially formulated FFKM types (Parker Parofluor).
