Parker details technology development approach

A Parker Hannifin - Parker Sales UK product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 22, 2009

Parker Hannifin's electromechanical automation division is to exhibit at the Intersolar show in San Francisco, and has detailed its systematic approach to solar technology development.

The company's approach has six steps.

Based on a review of the customer's goals, Parker helps to develop a rigorous definition of system requirements.

Proprietary software analyses the proposed system value and optimal component sizing.

Parker documents the system requirements, cost-effectiveness of options, proposed system design and analysis, price quotation and delivery schedule.

A project manager assigned to the customer's project uses a secure, 24/7 web-based tool to manage progress and keep both the engineering teams informed and current.

This mutually agreed upon document outlines the procedures, tools and methods used to verify that all project performances meet desired specifications.

This approach includes an engineer on site during delivery, machine inspection, training, maintenance and 24/7 support.

This process, combined with Parker's toolset and experienced engineering team, gives customers confidence as Parker brings their solar projects to market.

Parker is a single resource offering customers a range of solar-related capabilities and complete motion solutions, including: solar panel manufacturing; laser scribing for thin film PV; integrated automated glass buffers with conveyors; solar array positioning; large glass (2.2 x 2.8m) handling gantry; flat panel manufacturing; and wafer metrology.
