Plasticomp is to open a new technical development centre to further develop its Pushtrusion direct long-fibre thermoplastics (D-LFT) technology.

Plasticomp is to open a new technical development centre to further develop its Pushtrusion direct long-fibre thermoplastics (D-LFT) technology The new 1400m2 building is located in Winona is near the present PlastiComp corporate headquarters

The technical development centre will be devoted to further develop and define Pushtrusion processes and machinery, as well as produce long-fibre pellets.

Plasticomp will demonstrate new equipment and processes, profile Pushtrusion technology under a variety of process conditions and develop prototypes of new D-LFT machinery.

Plasticomp customers will have the opportunity to develop processes specific to their businesses on working production lines, and to perform test runs of Pushtrusion machinery prior to shipping.

"Our technical development centre will help us more fully profile the Pushtrusion process and evaluate parts production under typical processing conditions", said company President Steve Bowen.

"Most importantly, it gives us the ability to work more closely with our customers to develop processes that improve their products, as well as their profits.

It's a big step in positioning Pushtrusion technology into a rapid market growth phase, and to work with our customers to demonstrate how they can take advantage of D-LFT", Bowen continued.

Pushtrusion technology combines fibres and molten polymers directly inline as parts are formed, eliminating the need for pre-compounded resin pellets.

Moulders can set and maintain precise fibre lengths.

Composite product performance is greatly improved, while material costs are lowered dramatically.

Pushtrusion technology is compact and can be retrofit to existing process equipment, including injection and profile extrusion machinery.

PlastiComp is the exclusive global source for the Pushtrusion direct long-fibre thermoplastics (D-LFT) process.
