Following Pathtrace's agreement with PTC, Pro/Engineer users now have a fully integrated CAM solution based on Pathtrace's award-winning Edgecam Solid Machinist

Following Pathtrace of Reading's 'world first' agreement with PTC, Pro/Engineer users will now have a fully integrated computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) solution based on Pathtrace's award-winning Edgecam Solid Machinist.

For the first time at a UK exhibition, Pathtrace will demonstrate at CIM 2001 how this enables full associativity for direct machining of Pro/Engineer solid models using the production engineering expertise of Edgecam without the need for translators.

Pro/Engineer users now have access to the same benefits and advantages available to users of SolidEdge, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor and Mechanical Desktop design software through the Edgecam Solid Machinist product.

Edgecam's popularity, with more than 20,000 installations worldwide, has grown on the back of strategic development which has 'set the pace' in programming software.

Edgecam, users have the flexibility of a single system for production machining and mould and die encompassing features in a mid-range system normally only available in high end software.

In keeping with its development programme, Pathtrace will demonstrate for the first time Version 6.0 of Edgecam at CIM 2001.

The latest generation of software incorporates new levels of productivity improvement through improved toolpath generation, the further development of 'Job Manager' which provides valuable machine setting and job information.

In addition, through HTML web-based reporting, access to job status information is readily available.

Edgecam 6.0 also sees the introduction of the Edgecam Part Modeler, an associative modeler for Solid Machinist.

Edgecam Part Modeler is an easy to use and cost-effective solid modeler for part creation, jig and fixture design and specific tasks relative to mould and die industry requirements such as electrode construction for the EDM process.

Edgecam 6.0 will now allow the user to integrate multiple machining sequences such as when using a tombstone-type fixture with multiple parts where it will retain the 'knowledge' of what has been actioned so far and rationalise the sequences by tool change, machining plane or fixture indexing position.

With the latest Toolstore upgrade, Edgecam instruction lists can be viewed including speeds, feeds and cutting time.

Meanwhile, Edgecam Job Manager will provide shopfloor documentation and collaborative feedback to aid management of material, tooling and machinery.

On the shopfloor, Job Manager provides fixture, gauge and setting information.

Each layout is customer configurable providing access to status information throughout the organisation using HTML web-based reporting.
