Low cost solids modelling for machining
system
Engineers using EdgeCAM Solid Machinist now have access to an easy to use and low cost solids modelling program for the creation and machining of true solids-based components
With the launch by Pathtrace of the EdgeCAM Part Modeler, manufacturing engineers using EdgeCAM Solid Machinist will now have access to an easy to use and low cost solids modelling program for the creation and machining of true solids-based components EdgeCAM Part Modeler can also be used for mould and die design, the generation of electro-discharge machine electrodes with the advantage and the construction of jigs and fixtures

Edgecam sets program developments for 2000
A major development in the Edgecam portfolio is the launch of 'Solid Machinist' which will enable uses to directly machine Parasolid models inside the off-line programming software.
Edgecam chosen for high performance transmission
Faced with an ever-increasing demand for more complex machined surfaces, motor sports supplier, Hewland Engineering, has invested in Pathtrace's Edgecam system.
It is an associative modeller for EdgeCAM Solid Machinist which has the ability to locate and present to the user machinable elements through its automatic feature recognition and full component to toolpath associativity.
EdgeCAM Part Modeler has been developed by Pathtrace in partnership with Applied 3D Science Inc (A3DS) and uses Paralogix procedural modelling technology to provide the seamless integration within the dynamic environment of EdgeCAM Solid Machinist.
Dave Boucher, Research and development Director of Pathtrace said: "In our association with A3DS, we have a partner with specialised solid modelling expertise to provide us with complementary design tools for EdgeCAM Solid Machinist.
This arrangement allows us to focus on providing class-leading manufacturing technology, complemented by solid modelling tools with the EdgeCAM Part Modeller." Steven G Mastrangelo, Chief Executive Officer of A3DS outlines how pleased the company was to have the opportunity to help Pathtrace bring additional value to EdgeCAM users.
"Pathtrace's decision to partner with us demonstrates a significant confidence level in our company, our products and technology," he said.
EdgeCAM Part Modeler is based on the Parasolid (registered trademark) modelling kernel and enables design engineers to capture and reuse engineering knowledge and procedures to automate the modelling process for mechanical components and assemblies.
By reducing the normally extensive step-by-step procedures of model creation into a single operation, EdgeCAM Part Modeler provides a distinct advantage to users.
With EdgeCAM Part Modeler design time and the need for corrections to the model are significantly reduced.
