Edgecam sets program developments for 2000
A major development in the Edgecam portfolio is the launch of 'Solid Machinist' which will enable uses to directly machine Parasolid models inside the off-line programming software.
Edgecam chosen for high performance transmission
Faced with an ever-increasing demand for more complex machined surfaces, motor sports supplier, Hewland Engineering, has invested in Pathtrace's Edgecam system.
The objective of these trials was to confirm the highest levels of interoperability between the two products, enabling productivity to be maximised throughout the design and manufacturing process.
David Boucher, R and D Director for Pathtrace said: "It is important for our mutual customers that we provide the highest integration with Solid Edge.
Solid Edge/EdgeCAM customers will directly benefit from the integration and as a result enjoy improved efficiency and reduced lead times".
Mark Davies, Solid Edge Voyager Programme Manager, commented: "EDS PLM Solutions is pleased to approve EdgeCAM as a Certified Select Product which ensures the highest level of interoperability between Solid Edge and EdgeCAM and provides our users with a best-in-class CAD to CAM solution".
EdgeCAM Solid Machinist, using the EDS PLM Solutions Parasolid solid modelling kernel, works directly from the Solid Edge model without any need for data translation.
Automatic feature recognition and the addition of the new EdgeCAM Strategy Manager provide a highly automated solution for CNC programming.
Any design changes are quickly reflected in the CNC program and toolpaths can be automatically regenerated without the need for reprogramming.
EdgeCAM Solid Machinist also ships with a fully supported add-in application for Solid Edge to facilitate the transfer of model geometry to EdgeCAM directly from the Solid Edge window.
