Daewoo and Pathtrace collaborate on machining

Daewoo Heavy Industries and Pathtrace have signed a worldwide strategic relationship agreement to co-operate on future developments of new production machining techniques.

Daewoo Heavy Industries (Machine Tool Division), Korea and Pathtrace, UK have signed a worldwide strategic relationship agreement to co-operate on future developments of new production machining techniques for milling, turning and mill/turn machining.

As a result of the agreement, Pathtrace and Daewoo will collaborate in the area of R and D to ensure new development matches the future demands of the manufacturing industry.

As part of this agreement Pathtrace will provide licences of its EdgeCAM software for implementation in Daewoo's technical centre in Changwon, Korea as well as other key Daewoo facilities in Europe, the Americas and other parts of Asia.

According to Kwang-Jin Kim, Director of Machine Tool R and D at Daewoo Heavy Industries (Machine Tool Division): "We investigated the leading mill/turn CAM solutions and chose EdgeCAM due to its ability to provide efficient toolpaths for milling, turning and in particular mill/turn applications".

"The flexibility of the EdgeCAM post processor is also very powerful".

"The all round capability of EdgeCAM maximises the productivity of our Puma MX and TT machine tools".
