Edgecam sets program developments for 2000
A major development in the Edgecam portfolio is the launch of 'Solid Machinist' which will enable uses to directly machine Parasolid models inside the off-line programming software.
Edgecam chosen for high performance transmission
Faced with an ever-increasing demand for more complex machined surfaces, motor sports supplier, Hewland Engineering, has invested in Pathtrace's Edgecam system.
Complete machine tools may be accurately modelled and their movement shown throughout the machining process.
The new capability is especially useful for mill/turn applications where there is an increased potential for expensive collisions.
The turrets (with complete tooling), sub-spindle or tailstock and b-axis indexing head can all be displayed with full movement.
EdgeCAM machine simulation helps ensure safe operation even during complex multi-turret machining and spindle to spindle part transfer operations.
"Mill/turn or multi-task machines can deliver an important productivity boost to our customers, by eliminating the need for multiple set ups".
"With sub-spindle capability, a single set can be used where up to four would have been previously required" commented David Boucher, Pathtrace Marketing Director.
"The flipside is that these machines are more complex to program and there is a potential for collision in the confined space with many moving components; the addition of machine simulation to our full mill/turn programming solutions allows our customer to benefit fully from the productivity improvements available".
Euromould takes place at the Messegelande Exhibition Centre, Frankfurt, Germany on the 30th November to 3rd December 2005.
