Formosa increases Pavilion use

A Pavilion Technologies product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Dec 9, 2005

Formosa Plastics expands use of Pavilion Technologies' polymer control product to four additional polyethylene production lines.

Formosa Plastics is expanding its use of Pavilion Technologies' polymer control product to four additional polyethylene production lines.

This expansion follows Formosa's first Pavilion project in 2002 on two of its polyethylene lines.

Formosa use the Pavilion8-based polymer control system to increase production and improve product quality.

Walter Chen, Vice President of Formosa Plastics' polyolefin division, said: "Given the significant results we achieved with Pavilion, the expansion across all our polyethylene lines was a sensible business decision." Formosa will implement the system on three Nisseki polyethylene lines with a complex 15-reactor configuration and one Phillips Loop polyethylene line.

The Phillips Loop PE production line is the second largest in the world.

After deploying the system on the first two gas phase polyethylene lines, Formosa reported a 70% reduction of its wide-specification material and production increases of up to 3%.
