Pavilion Technologies has released Version 7 of its APC software suite.
Phase one of the ETS covers greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, primarily CO2, from all energy consumers with facilities greater than 20MW including offshore oil and gas platforms.
Each country maintains its own electronic trading registry system which is monitored by a central administrator at the EU.
Each registry keeps track of the ownership of allowances in the same way a banking system keeps ownership of money.
This means manufacturers can participate in market-based trading programmes that reward companies who strive to reduce GHG emissions and improve air quality.
"Pavilion's real-time emissions compliance software has helped leading manufacturers to achieve and maintain compliance, ensure accuracy of reports and minimise or eliminate compliance and reporting risks," said Pavilion's Director of Environment, Paul Reinermann.
The software, Pavilion 8 Environmental Compliance and Reporting, has helped companies such as AES Elsta, Air Liquide, Broin, Chevron Phillips Chemical, Sterling Chemicals and Eastman Chemicals to monitor, calculate and report emissions in real-time.
Companies such as Capitol Cement and Dyckerhoff have used Pavilion's APC to increase alternative fuel use and reduce emissions.
Other companies such as Nestle and Abbott Laboratories have deployed APC to reduce energy consumption, lowering fuel bills and emissions.
