Kiwi sailors use predictive guidance
Emirates Team New Zealand uses Pavilion software to gain an invaluable advantage at the start of each America's Cup race, and finished second in Valencia last month.
Emirates Team New Zealand (ETNZ), the America's Cup competitor that uses Pavilion software to gain an invaluable advantage at the start of each race, will enter the final act of the America's Cup pre-regattas in the top three after an impressive second place finish in Valencia last month.
ETNZ finished the regatta with the same number of points as Italy's Luna Rossa but on the count back, Italy was second.
It was another thrilling fight to the finish in Act Eleven, with ETNZ, Mascalzone Latino and BMW Oracle fighting for second place.
While Luna Rossa and USA engaged in a luffing duel in the sprint to the finish, ETNZ was able to sail its own race and put the outcome beyond doubt, crediting Pavilion's software with helping to hone its performance.
"The predictive guidance derived from Pavilion's powerful modelling software gives ETNZ a major advantage", said Kevin Hall, Navigator, Emirates Team New Zealand.
"No other technology enables us to synchronise navigational, structural and meteorological data so that our team can make the best sailing decisions in every race".
"Pavilion is thrilled with ETNZ's accomplishments in Valencia", said Pavilion CEO Ralph Carter.
"We would be honoured to see New Zealand - home of our R and D facility - take home the America's Cup in 2007, knowing that Pavilion was a contributor to that achievement".
ETNZ will now face China Team in Act Twelve starting on 22nd June.
The build up to the America's Cup, sailing's most coveted race, will culminate in the final cup race in the summer of 2007.
