The project was so successful that Mid-Missouri Energy has elected to expand the deployment to include additional Pavilion optimisation applications across the entire production process.

Founded by farmers in 2005, Mid-Missouri Energy (MME) produces 50 million gallons of ethanol per year.
In order to capitalise on the growing demand for ethanol as a result of a combination of high petrol prices and legislation promoting the use of alternative fuels as a solution to the United States' dependence on foreign oil, Mid-Missouri Energy sought innovative technology to increase the efficiency and production of fuel ethanol.
Mid-Missouri Energy chose Pavilion's Dryer Control Application, a model predictive control (MPC) solution, to improve performance of the dryer and associated stillage processing operations.
The deployment enabled Mid-Missouri Energy's plant operators to significantly increase ethanol production capacity by eliminating bottlenecks throughout the dryer stage of the process.
Specifically, Mid-Missouri Energy increased ethanol production rate by 6%, reduced energy consumption by 2.1%; delivered annual benefits of US $3 million; and achieved ROI in less than six months.
