Mid-Missouri Energy has achieved over US $3 million in annual benefits through implementation of Pavilion's Dryer Control Application at the company's Malta Bend, Missouri plant The deployment enabled Mid-Missouri Energy to improve process efficiencies and resolve bottlenecks throughout the drying process, resulting in a 6% increase in ethanol production and a return on investment (ROI) within six months

The project was so successful that Mid-Missouri Energy has elected to expand the deployment to include additional Pavilion optimisation applications across the entire production process.

"Pavilion's Ethanol Solution has made a significant impact on our bottom line in a short amount of time", said Mid-Missouri Energy Plant Manager, Chris Wilson.

"Our ability to de-bottleneck the dryer process, while maintaining more consistent DDGS product, resulted in immediate value and paved the way for our plant-wide rollout".

"We are confident that the value we've seen in the drying application will be realised across our entire operation".

Founded by farmers in 2005, Mid-Missouri Energy (MME) produces 50 million gallons of ethanol per year.

In order to capitalise on the growing demand for ethanol as a result of a combination of high petrol prices and legislation promoting the use of alternative fuels as a solution to the United States' dependence on foreign oil, Mid-Missouri Energy sought innovative technology to increase the efficiency and production of fuel ethanol.

Mid-Missouri Energy chose Pavilion's Dryer Control Application, a model predictive control (MPC) solution, to improve performance of the dryer and associated stillage processing operations.

The deployment enabled Mid-Missouri Energy's plant operators to significantly increase ethanol production capacity by eliminating bottlenecks throughout the dryer stage of the process.

Specifically, Mid-Missouri Energy increased ethanol production rate by 6%, reduced energy consumption by 2.1%; delivered annual benefits of US $3 million; and achieved ROI in less than six months.

"Mid-Missouri Energy has joined the ranks of ethanol manufacturers that are leveraging Pavilion's solutions to meet the unprecedented demand for ethanol-based fuel", said Pavilion Technologies CEO, Ralph Carter.

"Pavilion is proud to work with industry leading ethanol manufacturers like Mid-Missouri Energy and contribute to the growth in this dynamic industry".
