A powerful workstation with hinged sections that simply snap open for fast and easy configuration, customising and servicing without any tools, the CTC PC9 PC-based HMI from PBE Systems brings open thinking to open computing in plant floor environments.

A special self-monitoring system with an independent microcontroller to monitor the main processor ensures the highest reliability.

It compares values to defined limits, producing reports and generating on-screen alerts of any out-of-spec condition, allowing corrections to avoid unexpected shutdowns.

Units offer a choice of Celeron or Pentium II processor, compact solid-state FLASH or hard drive memory storage and 12in or 15in long-life LCD touchscreen monitors with 'smart' image video sizing for enhanced quality.

High connectivity is provided by three RS232 serial ports, an RS232/422/485 serial port, two USB ports, one parallel port and 10/100 base-T Ethernet ports.

The two hinged back-end sections give wide access to allow easy installation of cards and boards, while field replaceable CPU board, LCD, hard drive, floppy drive and CD-ROM minimise downtime and production disruptions.

There are either two full-length ISA expansion slots and one PCI slot or 3 ISA slots, plus field upgradeable NLX CPU board.

Bringing open platform capabilities to high-end machine and line control requirements, as well as supporting SCADA and networking, the workstations are designed to NEMA 4/4X standards.

A remote version is offered with PC and monitor separated by up to 50ft.
