To ensure lasting reliability, these units are offered with a choice of three set expansion forms providing robustness for heavy-duty applications, rather than the usual facility for ISA or PCI slots which are less reliable in the long term.
The expansion choice is a PC/104 plus, a CompactFlash TM or two Type-II PCMCIAs.
A special RS485 port with automatic data flow control function allows connection of the HMIs to measuring or controlling devices without the usual annoyance of one-way communications on standard RS485 ports.
This built-in feature allows simple use of the serial communication without considering the direction of data flow.
An abundance of integral I/O connections enables these units to fulfil virtually all demands in a wide variety of applications.
These include a 100Base-T Ethernet, VGA out, parallel, mic in, line out and PS/2, two USB and three serial ports.
