Servocell is a novel actuator specially developed for use with the latest electronic strike plate locking systems The technology enables door lock manufacturers to incorporate a streamlined locking mechanism that lasts up to five times longer between battery changes than currently available models

Many hotels and commercial properties use solenoids to activate electronic lock mechanisms.

This power-inefficient method requires a high current, generally provided by mains power, and shielding to prevent unauthorised door entry.

PBT's recent patented advances in piezo technology have resulted in a long lasting alternative that requires 90-96% less power than conventional designs; making battery-powered electronic door locks a viable option.

Consequently the whole mechanism can be integrated into the door itself, providing a more streamlined appearance.

Due to the low current required, control level signals can be used to operate the actuator.

Paul Jones, PBT's Director of Sales and Marketing, commented: "This application of piezoceramic actuator technology is an innovative way for lock manufacturers to incorporate the latest engineering into lock strike-plate mechanisms reducing weight, wiring and heat emissions, whilst increasing the durability".

The Servocell actuators are shipped ready assembled in a frame for ease of handling and integration, providing uncomplicated and cost effective solutions ready for manufacture.
