Piezo actuators go smaller still

A Servocell product story

Piezo actuator specialist Servocell has developed two new versions of its Active Latch module.

Piezo actuator specialist Servocell has developed two new versions of its Active Latch module.

The AL1c is fully available now, and the AL1cR is sampling.

Both modules have all the advanced features and benefits of the AL1 except with the electronic control circuit outside of the module.

This allows high volume manufacturers to take the electronics and integrate them into their primary access control circuit boards.

This change has permitted Servocell to modify and significantly reduce the size of the AL1c by almost 40% to develop the AL1cR.

"One of the key drivers for the development of all our Active Latches has been the size of the module".

"The smaller we make our modules the more possibilities exist to integrate them into new locking solutions", says Simon Powell, Managing Director at Servocell.

"Where customers have an existing board with clock functions, we can integrate the technologies and reduce component count".

"Such reductions bring significant cost savings".

With the electronics on the outside Servocell was able to lower the starting price for its Active Latch range and expects to offer both of the new modules from a competitive US $6.00 per module.

The current range of piezo-actuated modules includes the AL1a, the AL1d, with integral identity address, AL1c and the AL1cR.
