Alliance locks innovations together

A Servocell product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 1, 2005

Servocell and Key Innovations have licensed their technology to provide an integrated set of products for OEMs within the access control market as well as for lock and office furniture manufacturers.

Servocell has formed a partnership with Swedish component manufacturer Key Innovations.

As a part of the agreement, Servocell and Key Innovations have licensed their technology to provide an integrated set of products for OEMs within the access control market as well as for lock and office furniture manufacturers.

The first product to come out of this partnership is an electronic knob developed for German lock manufacturer Beloxx.

The knob consists out of Key Innovation's Tap-a-Key technology and Servocell's piezo-based Active Latch module.

"When we heard of Servocell's Active Latch in December last year, we thought that it was the right product to integrate our Tap-a-Key technology into", says Thomas Hogler, Managing Partner Key Innovations.

"We sent a video file, which showed how our product would work in combination with Servocell's Active Latch module and received a phone call from Servocell within two hours".

Tap-a-Key is a miniature circuit board that can be programmed with any code consisting of one to eight digits.

It operates with only one simple standard push button switch and an LED.

The usual bulky keypad for electronic locks is no longer necessary making the knob ideal for electronic furniture and hand luggage.

The code can be reprogrammed at any time and the code is stored even if the power is disconnected.

"The Tap-a-Key technology is an excellent entry-level complement to our Active Latch technology".

"It increases the security by integrating coding", says Simon Powell, Managing Director Servocell.

"The partnership between Key Innovations and Servocell represents a true win-win scenario for our individual companies as well as our customers".
