A new range of low cost colour line scan cameras combine the benefits of photodiode array detection with high speed CCD scanning and digital colour line scanning technology

The Lasers and Detectors Division of Pacer Components has just released a range of new, low cost, Colour Line Scan Cameras from PerkinElmer Optoelectronics Designated the YD5000 series, these cameras combine the benefits of photodiode array detection with high speed CCD scanning and digital colour line scanning technology

Based on a tri-linear sensor with output speeds to 90MHz (30MHz per colour channel) and pixel resolutions of 4096 and 6144 the YD5000 has a Camera Link interface providing easy "Plug and Play" connectivity with its associated frame grabber electronics.

The sensor uses 10um square pixels with a centre-to-centre line separation of 40um.

This geometry ensures optimum colour reconstruction within the camera.

Each colour line is fabricated with filter on dye to maximise colour intensity and clarity.

The peak light response at each colour is 630nm (red) 540nm (green) and 460nm (blue).

The YD5000 can operate in two exposure modes.

In Free Running mode, data will continuously be read out at the maximum rate.

In Slave Mode the camera is triggered externally via the CameraLink interface.

This can be used to synchronise camera operation with the target and overall system requirements.

The signal from each colour is synchronised by inputs from the CameraLink serial port.

A Correlated Double Sampling stage is used to minimise noise and maximise dynamic range and an auto zero stage provides black-level and dark current optimisation.

After amplification and 'white balancing' the three colour video waveforms are simultaneously digitised to 8-bit in 10-bit A to D converters and fed via a memory buffer to the CameraLink interface. Request a free brochure from Pacer International ...
