Pacer USA's applications kit enables users of the DigiPyro digital pyrodetector to save their data in ASCII format - ready to load into any spreadsheet application.

Pacer USA released an applications kit to enable users of the DigiPyro digital pyrodetector to make quick motion detection measurements and save this data in ASCII format - ready to load into any spreadsheet application.

Manufactured by PerkinElmer Optoelectronics, and marketed and supported through Pacer USA in North America, the DigiPyro PYD 1998 dual-element pyrodetector provides users with clear performance advantages over traditional analogue pyrodetectors and reduces the cost and space requirements associated with analogue circuitry.

"Comprising an interface box, USB cable, sensor cable and software, the new applications kit has been designed to allow users of the innovative DigiPyro digital pyrodetector gain the full benefits of digital motion detection quickly and easily", said David House, General Manager of Pacer USA.

Until the introduction of the DigiPyro, traditional detection instrumentation relied on analogue signal processing for motion detection applications.

To process an analogue signal, these detectors require additional system components such as amplifiers, resistors, and capacitors for EMI filtering, and A/D converters, all components that add to system costs without improving performance.

While design considerations are different for each customer's equipment, indications are that system costs due to fewer components can be reduced by up to 20%.

Impaired by mobile phone and other EMI signals, traditional analogue pyrodetectors are easily disrupted, making them less reliable in use in home and industrial settings.

There is significantly improved EMI immunity with the DigiPyro.

Tests show that the power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) is improved by 30dB, a 32-fold improvement over the traditional analogue pyrodetector technology.
