ASME code and the PED
Pedcat has acted as consultant to a number of companies who have successfully applied ASME codes to demonstrate PED compliance.
Quality assurance service takes PED onboard
Pedcat can now offer a full quality assurance service that includes modification of existing systems to satisfy ISO9000:2000 and the Pressure Equipment Directive.
Software gets to grip with the PED
Pedcat has upgraded its successful Pressure Equipment Directive analysis software PEDHelp.
The product range includes systems manufactured in the USA by Harvel Plastics, Spears Manufacturing and by IPS Corporation, and in Europe by Ludwig Praher, Agru and ASV Stubbe.
The company was established in 1990 and has a total commitment to quality.
It obtained BS5750 Part 2 in 1993 and became an Investor In People in 1995.
IPS now operates to ISO9000:2000 and has an environmental management system accredited to ISO14001.
This commitment to quality led the company to check its whole product range against the requirements of the PED, and to take action accordingly.
When seeking information regarding the legislation the company contacted the UK DTI which advised them to speak to Pedcat for independent impartial advice.
This initial contact led IPS to commission Pedcat to undertake a full product and company strategic analysis with a brief to advise on the most cost effective route to compliance and assist with the whole process of implementing the findings, including training and technical documentation.
Fortunately, only a small number of products actually fell into a category that required CE marking, the greater percentage falling into the sound engineering practice SEP category, which of course must still satisfy certain essential requirements.
With its characteristic attention to detail and total quality philosophy IPS was keen to ensure that all products fully satisfied all the legal obligations placed on it by this legislation.
With the project now successfully completed, company director Trevor Atkinson commented: "We are delighted with the input Pedcat has had into our compliance with the PED.
They were able to guide us through what initially seemed a complicated process, and made simple the organisation of the data requirements.
They also undertook the training of our people to create awareness and raise the level of understanding within our company.
There is no doubt that without the input from the Pedcat team we would not have been able to achieve compliance within the time frame required".
