Explosion-proof solenoid coils for hazardous areas

A Parker Lucifer product story

At Achema 2006, Parker Lucifer will publicly demonstrate a new generation of coils for controlling solenoid valves in hazardous environments; these improve performance through the use of innovative materials and encapsulation technologies.

To achieve flameproof protection, the new coils replace the more usual metal housing with a novel plastic design.

This housing features an extremely small internal space to ensure that any spark does not have enough oxygen to ignite and cause an explosion - and it also integrates an interchangeable safety fuse.

This approach saves an enormous amount of space and weight.

The new explosion-proof coils meet ATEX standards, providing EEx dm IIC T4, T5 and T6 or EEx ia IIC T6 level protection.

Parker Lucifer can equip a large proportion of its solenoid valve designs with the new electrical parts, in particular for the low-power (2.5W) and intrinsic-safety types.
