A new generation of data acquisition and communication systems uses the GSM network to enable engineers and operators to capture data, respond to critical events and maintain control using their existing mobile phones.

Using the Short Messaging Service (SMS) the IN4MA provides two-way communication, responding to requests for information or allowing control of the process.

In addition, the IN4MA can pass on a message when a certain condition occurs, so the operator can take immediate and appropriate actions in alarm situations.

The latest addition to the range, the Pocket GSM, has four digital inputs.

When an alarm condition occurs a text message can be sent to up to three mobile phone numbers.

In addition the unit has an RS232 serial communications port and act as a Hayes compatible modem which means the unit can be used to communicate with a remote PLC or other electronic device.

The two digital outputs which can be set/reset by sending text messages can be used to start plant or inhibit a machine.

The unit is both powerful and flexible and Powelectrics can offer bespoke solutions if required, for example to perform special functions, such as including service timers to warn when a service is due.

This type of application can be accommodated quickly and easily with the Pocket GSM.

Applications for the IN4MA include remote machinery monitoring, PLC communications, GSM modem type application, tank level monitoring, condition monitoring and much more.

The IN4MA range is both extensive and flexible.

Solutions are available with onboard data logging.

Data can be displayed on a computer or on the Internet giving even more flexibility.
