Fasteners offer easy sheet detaching

A Penn Engineering product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 3, 2007

PEM Keyhole self-clinching sheet joining fasteners promote speedier assembly and disassembly and allow for either horizontal or vertical component mounting.

PEM Keyhole self-clinching sheet joining fasteners enable two sheets to be quickly joined flat against each other and then easily detached simply by sliding the top sheet sideways and lifting it off from the panel-on-panel assembly.

They install permanently in a metal sheet and will accommodate a second sheet made from any material.

These Type SKC-F fasteners reduce the amount and types of loose hardware to be handled and installed, promote speedier assembly and disassembly and allow for either horizontal or vertical component mounting.

For added security against unwanted sheet movement, a standard PEM threaded flush nut and screw can be specified.

These stainless steel sheet joining fasteners with a barrel design install in aluminium or steel sheets as thin as .040/1.02mm.

Installation can be accomplished using a Pemserter press or other suitable method to deliver sufficient squeezing force until the flange of the fastener is flush with the host metal sheet.

Upon installation, the fastener's head will be flush or sub-flush with one side of the sheet and the fastener becomes an integral part of the host sheet.

Where a concealed head is required in an application, the fasteners can be clinched into a blind hole.

These self-clinching fasteners are made from 300 series stainless steel and are RoHS compliant.
