Penny and Giles Controls has supplied their new JC400 joystick controller to Latitude 52, a company specialising in the design of skippers chairs for large ocean-going ships.

Their Norsap 1500 chair has been developed to accommodate full ships controls in the armrests and the Penny and Giles three-axis JC400 has been selected for its perfect precision control in this demanding environment.

Explains Latitude 52 managing director Peter Methven: "From the seated position the captain can control the whole ship using the Penny and Giles joystick, including close manoeuvring to an oil rig with fingertip control of engines and thrusters." He adds that precise control is vital, as it is not uncommon for ships to have to maintain constant position in a hostile North Sea.
