Rotary position sensor handles knocks and shocks

A Penny and Giles product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 9, 2005

A new rotary position sensor uses proven, noncontact Hall effect to provide reliable and accurate rotary measurement in extreme industrial environments where shock and vibration can occur.

Penny + Giles will be launching its new rotary position sensor which uses proven, noncontact Hall effect technology at Instrumentation South, on Stand 210.

The SRH280 provides reliable and accurate rotary measurement in extreme industrial environments where shock and vibration can occur.

The new device uses the popular 28mm flanged housing with a protection rating upgraded to IP68.

The sensor provides an electrical output over the full 360-degree range and is launched with a 10bit microprocessor.

A 12bit version is expected to be available by the end of the year.

For ease of configuration, it is available with an analogue or pulsewidth-modulated signal output.

Also on display will be the company's wide range of linear displacement sensors, rotary position sensors and noncontact ICT sensors for the industrial and manufacturing markets.

This includes its new range of compact draw-wire linear sensors that provide accurate measurement in a range of strokes up to 5000mm and is ideal for use where space is a constraint.

It will also be showing its popular SRS880 rugged sealed rotary sensor which is now available with an optional stainless steel housing.

This provides exceptional resistance to corrosion for heavy duty position sensing applications in offshore and marine environments.
