PFC Engineering Ltd has released the new SBA Series Automatic Capacitor Modules, aimed directly at the panel and system builder marketplace.
Based upon the successful technologies of preceding capacitor modules, with proven performance and reliability, the new products retain the paramount features that have led to their impressive service life.
Features such as self-healing capacitors and soft switching contactors, which use pre-connection to minimize the in-rush current transients and system disturbances associated with capacitor switching.
PFC's technical department will design modules to suit individual customer's required dimensions and ratings to fit into existing switchboards.
The modular capacitor trays can be interconnected with minimal wiring requirements, and the desired kVAr rating can be built up in step sizes dictated by the customer's requirements.
The capacitor module can consist of the requisite number of individual capacitor elements, which are manufactured from metallised polypropylene or metallised paper and plastic film.
Each one incorporates a fail-safe protection device and both the control and main power capacitor modules are individually fused.
The SBA series limits capacitor losses to 0.5 watts per kVAr.
Its standard 415-volt capacitor features permissible overloads 440v permanently and 480v eight hours per day.
The capacitors feature an impressive full term current overload of twice the nominal current rating, which allows for the absorption of harmonic current on systems where up to 20% of total load is non-linear.
The SBA series automatic capacitor modules have a temperature range of -40degC to +50degC for installation within panels and switchboards and are manufactured to comply with all the relevant standards of IEC 931, BS 1650 and VDE 0560.
