Free software configures power controllers

A CD Automation UK product story

The new digital family of power controllers from CD Automation come with free PC based configuration software.

Paragon Alliance, the UK's representative for the CD Automation range, believes the free software available when purchasing products with RS485 communications can save the customers time and money.

The savings come from three main areas, simplified configuration, reduced unit wiring and a reduction in stock variants.

All units with communication functionality can be fully configured either remotely from a control room or via the front panel connector with a PC loaded with the free windows based software, removing the need for multiple jumper links.

Configuration can be done prior to installation on the test bench or in situ without the need to power down the unit.

The CD1000, which has been specifically designed for multizone applications, comes with a flat wiring loom which removes 75% of the required wiring.

The interconnection loom means the user only has to make connections for the load, the remaining connections for auxiliary supply, heater break and communications have already been made.

Rather than having to stocking multiple units with various configurations, the free software means the user is able to stock base units which can be reconfigured to suit the particular application, again no need to multiple jumper links.

Predefined recipes can be downloaded into the new unit which can then go online and in turn reduce down time significantly.

The software is also available from the Paragon Alliance website and operates with the CD3000M, CD3000E, CD3200 and CD1000 products.
