Polymer Group's Durapex filtration medium is being used in new industrial baghouse filters for dust removal in humid conditions and high temperatures.

Through its strategic relationship with Donaldson Company, use of PGI's award-winning Durapex has expanded to the newest product offerings in Donaldson's Dura-Life baghouse line.

The two companies joined together a year ago to produce industrial filter bag media that help companies meet new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) air quality standards for particulate matter.

The new products include oleophobic bags for enhanced cleaning of wet and oily dust in cement, food, agriculture and other industries; and an Aramid version that provides superior filtration in temperatures up to 200C for uses in furnaces.

These additions join the original Dura-Life line.

"The Dura-Life product has been successful at transforming the standards in the baghouse industry", said Joe Kiolbasa, Donaldson's Baghouse Product Manager.

"PGI's innovative technology combined with our industrial filtration expertise is delivering superior solutions that address an ever-widening set of applications and customer needs".

Christine Murray, PGI's Director of Sales and Marketing Filtration, added: "These new products continue to demonstrate the winning partnership between PGI and Donaldson".

"Together, we have made a significant contribution to helping customers achieve air quality standards that meet or exceed regulations".

Dura-Life filters provide twice the life compared with ordinary, 16oz polyester felt bags, and also are cost-effective with lower pressure drop, resulting in longer bag life and reduced maintenance and energy costs.

Award Winners Durapex is made with PGI's proprietary Apex technology, a hydroentanglement manufacturing process that provides superior uniformity and tightly controlled pore-size distribution.

The result is a nonwoven fabric with high filtration efficiency and greater fabric strength than traditional needlefelt fabric.

The Apex technology is becoming a widely used filtration platform with many diverse applications, including pool and spa filtration.
