Servo drives increase to 110kVA
The power range of Parker Electromechanical's Compax3 servo drives has been increased to extend their scope of application in to the high power bracket.
In addition to this the Compax3 now has additional feedback support and offers the option of an integral PLC control card - providing a powerful multi-axis controller for combined PLC, motion control and visualisation tasks.
Several enhancements have also been made to both the hardware and software functionality of the Compax3 family, including UL certification of the complete range.
The Compax3 400V power range now covers a range from 1 to 20kVA with the introduction of the new "C3S015V4" model - a 1kVA/1.5A power module, which operates from a 400/480V three-phase supply.
Compatible with all feedback, interface and technology options offered within the Compax3 family, this new model now permits the system builder to satisfy both high- and low-power applications from a common 400V three-phase supply system.
The new "T40 technology function" provides an electronic CAM generation option - suitable for all applications where a mechanical cam is to be replaced by a flexible, cyclically operating electronic solution.

All-digital servo gains IEC61131-3 programming
A raft of new modular hardware and software options significantly extend the functionality of the latest-generation Compax3 intelligent servo drive.
The T40 technology function provides for up to 36 independent cams and has a 10,000 element cam memory.
These cams are fully scaleable and may be controlled by either a real- or virtual-CAM master device.
Furthermore, freely programmable event-controlled cam branching permits the user to couple and decouple between different cams, or cam-segments, on the fly.
Cam profiles are stored efficiently through the use of nonequidistant setpoint mapping and the use of linear interpolation between setpoints.
When combined with the powerful CamDesigner software tool, the T40 technology function provides the user with a simple solution for mechanical CAM replacement applications, all programmable within the IEC61131-3 environment.
The "T11" technology function has been enhanced and extended with the addition of several new features, and the release of the new "I12 T11" control type with RS232/485 communications.
The T11 control technology provides extended positioning control via motion sets, digital I/O or the selected communication option.
In addition to standard speed and position control, the T11 now also offers electronic gearing, registration and dynamic positioning control, plus support for multi-turn feedback and multi-turn emulation.
The "C3 powerPLmC" is an efficient IEC61131-3 controller that features pure PLC logic-, motion- and visualisation-control functionality.
Integrated inside the Compax3 drive, the C3 powerPLmC uses a real-time multitasking operating system to provide a complete machine control system - capable of multi-axis motion control, logical operations and advanced technology functions.
Visualisation control for system monitoring and diagnostics is integrated within the local programming system and an OPC interface permits simple integration with third-party Windows-based visualisation programs such as InteractX, WinCC, Intouch and Protool.
A high-speed 32bit RISC processor provides an execution time of less than 100us for 1000 IL commands - making this one of the fastest in this market type.
Multiple-drive communication is achieved via the onboard CANopen fieldbus port, and an Ethernet TCP/IP port permits programming and remote diagnostics.
The C3 powerPLmC can optionally be supplied with a Profibus-DP fieldbus option, in addition to the above features.
Other recent key enhancements to the Compax3 family have included the addition of support for serial RS485 communications, expansion of the IEC command memory from 3000 to 5000 instructions, expansion of the IEC variables memory from 300 to 500, the addition of several new IEC commands, the release of the F12 incremental encoder feedback option and the UL certification of the entire range.
