Higher performance brushless servomotors are designed to replace the now obsolete N-Series motors recently discontinued by Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley.

Parker Electromechanical has launched the MPN-series of brushless servomotors, designed to replace the now-obsolete N-Series motors which were recently discontinued by Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley.

The Parker MPN motors offer more torque per frame size than the N-Series motors, feature well-proven technology from the Parker MaxPlus motor family range, and are modified to match the mechanical mounting and electrical characteristics of the Rockwell N-Series family.

The front motor mount, shaft dimensions, connectors and the electrical Ke (back-EMF) of the motors are identical to that of the N-series motors, and the rotor inertias are typically within 10% of the equivalent N-Series motor - so there is unlikely to be a any need for retuning.

One minor drawback is some of the motors may be slightly longer than their N-Series equivalent.

The use of neodymium magnets permits the MPN-series motor to generate significantly higher torques, with the Kt (torque constant) of some MPN motors being twice that of the equivalent N-Series motor.

Consequently MPN motors require less current, less energy, and generate less heat, while providing higher performance and ultimately greater throughput.

As these motors have the same mounting, connectivity, and very similar electrical characteristics to the N-series motors, it is very easy to retrofit MPN-series motors in existing N-series applications.

To aid the user even further, all motor configuration files are supplied free of charge on the Parker EME website, making it even easier to get an MPN installed and running with minimal effort.

Once downloaded from the Parker EME website, the user simply needs to upload the motor configuration file (.mxf) to their existing Rockwell motor database, select the appropriate motor, and then they are ready to run.

Parker EME offers MPN-series motors to replace all the Rockwell N-Series types, including the N3406, N3412, N4214, N4220, N5630, N5637 and N5647.

All MPN motors have a 2000-line encoder, a 24V brake option, and are rated for a 340V DC bus.

The N2302 and N2304 come as standard with a 1000-line encoder and are rated for 170V DC, with the option of a 24V brake.

Parker MPN-series motors are ideal in applications for packaging, printing, semiconductor, and machine tool industries, are UL and CE rated, and are sealed to IP65 as a standard.
