Tthe 890PX' dedicated plug-in drive modules make setup or subsequent reconfiguration quick and simple, and standard pre-engineered hardware cuts costs still further.

Parker SSD Drives has launched a modular, high-power AC drive system, that has been developed to help customers reduce installation time and costs.

The 890PX is easy to install, simply requiring connection to a power supply and downstream induction, torque, or permanent magnet servomotors, to operate.

Dedicated plug-in drive modules make setup or subsequent reconfiguration quick and simple, and standard pre-engineered hardware cuts costs still further.

The new rugged 890PX is available in 380-460V and 500-690V configurations, with power ratings of up to 400kW, making it ideal for use in a wide range of demanding applications in the plastics, paper, textile, energy and heavy manufacturing and process sectors.

Each unit is constructed around a set of modules, mounted in a robust steel fabricated tower frame that at just 500x620mm is believed to have the smallest footprint for a high-power industrial device of this type.

Perhaps more importantly, and unlike many competing systems where ancillary hardware is supplied at extra cost, the tower frame incorporates all common components such as circuit breakers, fuses, motor cooling blocks, harmonic-reducing input line reactor, dynamic braking with resistor, and cooling and ventilation units as standard.

In addition, each 890PX system is supplied with a series of sealed power drive modules that simply plug in to the power frame.

These modules are designed to minimise external wiring and are fully configured with inverter phase assemblies, DC supply, capacitors and cooling fans and are fitted with self-aligning silver plated connectors for quick and secure connection to a common bus rail within the tower enclosure.

Further modules are available for power input and output, while a separate operator interface panel features an industry standard keypad, with a USB port allowing programming to be carried out remotely.

The 890PX is compatible with all leading protocols, including Ethernet, Profibus, ControlNet, DeviceNet, CanOpen and Firewire, using appropriate card modules, and can be supplied for either top or bottom power entry for use in markets around the world.

Similarly, each power module has been manufactured to be compact and relatively lightweight, enabling it easily to be shipped and installed by local technicians.

The modular nature of the 890PX technology also means that individual units can be linked together quickly and simply, providing an easily upgradeable system, that can be modified and extended as the needs of end users change.

Parker SSD Drives also provides a comprehensive range of technical and customer applications services, plus a global network of manufacturing and sales offices for local spares and support.
