Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 22, 2004

The Maine Department of Transportation has awarded ProSoft a two-year contract to provide MicroStation training, technical support, consulting and custom application development.

The Maine Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded Professional Software Solutions (ProSoft) a two-year contract to provide MicroStation training, technical support, consulting and custom application development.

ProSoft will provide instructor-led training to all MicroStation users, focusing on fundamentals, software upgrades, MicroStation configuration and management issues.

ProSoft will also supply the DOT with its new server-based electronic training courseware, known as MicroStation Fundamentals Online Edition.

ProSoft's electronic courseware combines animation and voice with professionally developed training content, allowing users to begin learning new features at their own pace immediately.

Maine DOT will use the electronic courseware as a primer and review tool for instructor-led training, and will employ an optional module to administer customised testing and track usage of the courseware.

ProSoft will also be helping the DOT by providing application development and programming services.

The DOT has several custom software applications that are used in its daily computer-aided design and engineering workflow.

ProSoft will be assisting in updating and enhancing these resources, as well as developing new applications.

The Maine Department of Transportation has also chosen ProSoft to provide supplemental MicroStation technical support services.

ProSoft has long been known for its technical expertise and ability to work with large clients in solving tough MicroStation issues related to implementation and CAD standards.

According to Dennis Folsom, Manager of the Engineering Systems Support Group at the DOT: "ProSoft is well qualified in terms of expertise, experience, and staffing to provide customised MicroStation training, consulting, and programming, appropriate to the needs of the Maine DOT.

The agreement with ProSoft will enable the continuation of a proven, successful and cooperative relationship.

ProSoft (and Rowse Company, before their merger) have been very responsive in customising classes for us and in helping to develop our MicroStation implementation.

We are very pleased to have ProSoft as our partner for MicroStation training and support".

Robert Rowse, who manages the Portland, Maine office of ProSoft, will oversee the contract.

Rowse adds: "The Maine Department of Transportation is committed to providing the best support services available to their users and administrative staff.

We are proud to have been chosen to help Maine Department of Transportation by providing these critical services".
