Profibus DP modules cover full range

A ProSoft Technology product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jan 14, 2008

Complete line of Profibus DP modules covers Rockwell Automation's ControlLogix, CompactLogix, SLC and Flex I/O platforms.

The introduction of ProSoft Technology's Profibus DP modules for Rockwell Automation's CompactLogix and SLC platforms marks the first time a single vendor has ever had support for Profibus DP for so many platforms.

For Rockwell Automation customers using Profibus DP network devices and equipment, there have traditionally been different vendors supporting the various Rockwell Automation platforms, but now when a technical support question arises, users can turn to a single vendor for answers.

ProSoft Technology is widely known for providing superior technical support, with a team of support engineers who have real world field experience and who are not only knowledgeable about ProSoft Technology products, but also the Rockwell Automation product lines.

The MVI56-PDPMV1 Profibus DP Master V1 module for ControlLogix has been enhanced to incorporate some significant new features that make the module more efficient and user friendly.

The MVI56-PDPMV1 is the first module to be enabled with CIP Connect, a feature that allows a PC to connect to the MVI56-PDPMV1 module over Ethernet via the 1756-ENBT EtherNet/IP module.

This allows the user to configure the Profibus master module and network, upload, download files, and view network and module diagnostics from a PC using the ProSoft Configuration Builder (PCB).

Only one IP address is required.

RSLinx is not required.

The user enters an IP address and slot number And PSW-cDTM-PDPM comDTM support is included.

The single-slot backplane compatible Profibus DP Master and Slave modules for CompactLogix support both I/O control and CIP messaging for parameterisation and alarms.

CIP messaging which separates noncritical (acyclic) data from critical (cyclic) data which reduces the amount of information that is continually updated.

This allows for noncritical data to be sent on request only, which can significantly speed up performance.

The modules are Profibus certified and offer DPV0/V1 support.

They are all configurable via ladder logic or the new ProSoft.net FDT Configuration Software.
