Modbus modules are backward-compatible

A ProSoft Technology product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 6, 2009

Prosoft Technology has announced the release of the MV156E Enhanced Modbus and Modbus Remote Communications modules for Rockwell Automation Controllogix PACs.

The modules have been designed to easily communicate with devices using the Modbus serial protocol.

For remote rack installations, the MVI56E-MCMR Enhanced Modbus Remote Module is equipped with a reduced data block for scaling I/O to the application, thereby limiting demands on the control network.

MVI56E modules are backward-compatible, sharing ladder logic and module configuration files with existing MVI56 Modbus Communication Modules in the field.

This allows users to easily upgrade existing modules and protect their investments while benefiting from an array of features designed to improve interoperability and enhance the user experience.

Add-on instruction provides faster, easier setup and tight integration with RSLogix 5000.

WEB Page - the Module's built-in Ethernet port - provides a web server for local access to documentation, module status, and firmware updates.

Prosoft Discovery Service software utility locates MVI56E modules on the network and assigns a temporary IP address.

The Prosoft Configuration Builder (PCB) provides online diagnostics and a data analyser using the high-speed Ethernet port CIPconnect-enabled CIPconnect technology enables module configuration and diagnostics through an Ethernet/IP connection routed or bridged over multiple paths via 1756-ENxT and 1756-CNB modules.

This allows users having an established Ethernet network to connect to the module from anywhere on the Ethernet (Ethernet/IP and Controlnet) network.

A compact flash memory card is provided for storing all of the module's set-up and configuration data for quick and easy replacement of modules in the field.

A four-digit display provides English messages for status and alarm data, and for processor and network communication and conditions.

All Prosoft Technology products come with a three-year warranty and unlimited technical support.
