Phasa Developments is aiming to boost overseas sales of its advanced plastic assembly technology by the appointment of Peak Innovation GmbH to handle sales and support for its products in Europe.
Hertfordshire-based Phasa Developments is aiming to boost overseas sales of its advanced plastic assembly technology by the appointment of Peak Innovation GmbH to handle sales and support for its products in Europe.
Based in Munich, Peak provides a wide range of specialist consultancy services to help customers take design concepts rapidly and efficiently through to volume production.
The company draws on many years of hands-on experience within the automotive, building industry and plastics manufacturing sectors and is headed by Dipl-Ing Wilhelm Heidorn.
"Peak's skills are backed by a great deal of vehicle project management expertise; making them an ideal partner for us," comments Phasa's Business Manager, Tony Woods.
"We already supply hot air staking equipment to a number of leading motor industry OEMs and tier one contractors for use on vehicle door finishers, under bonnet parts, electronic equipment, lamp systems and safety critical devices.
"Peak's knowledge and established contacts at the heart of the European automotive industry will be major factors in enabling us to significantly increase export sales to this sector in the future." Not that Phasa's advanced thermoplastic fastening process is limited to vehicle applications.
The process employs the principle of accurately directing high temperature air on to pre-moulded pegs, ribs or collars so that they can be re-shaped, clamped and cooled into new forms.
The fastening method provides key benefits of short cycle times, minimal handling of parts, elimination of bought-in threaded fasteners or clips, high repeatability and the need for only visual inspection.
The process effectively de-skills assembly operations, making it equally suitable for a wide range of applications across the domestic appliance, IT, telecommunications, defence, leisure and security equipment sectors.
"Plastic Hot air staking is already well established in the UK," Mr Woods continues.
"And with a number of projects in the general manufacturing field already in hand with Peak, we are confident of mirroring this success throughout the rest of Europe as well.".
