BSI publications join safety portfolio

A Pilz Automation Technology product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 23, 2004

Pilz Automation Technology has been appointed a distributor for BSI publications.

Pilz Automation Technology has been appointed a distributor for BSI publications, which means that customers can order standards, BSI's CE Marking Guides and numerous other published documents - including forthcoming standards that are currently available in the form of a Draft for Public Comment.

A list of the most popular standards and related documents is now available on the Pilzsupport website.

This is another development that helps designers, manufacturers, users and those maintaining and refurbishing machinery to fulfil all of their machinery safety needs through a single supplier.

Pilz has an enviable knowledge of machinery safety standards, which is hardly surprising since one of the company's stated aims is to be represented on the appropriate standard-formulating committees wherever possible.

Of course, this also helps to ensure that new products are developed to meet the future needs of customers, and informed advice can be given on the direction that machinery safety standards are likely to take in the future.

Meanwhile, a list of the most popular current machinery safety standards and those published as a Draft for Public Comment is available on the Pilzsupport web site.

This includes the obvious items such as BS EN954-1:1997 (Safety of machinery.

Safety related parts of control systems.

General principles for design) and BS EN1050:1997 (Safety of machinery.

Principles for risk assessment), plus others such as the recently published BS EN ISO13849-2:2003 (Safety of machinery.

Safety-related parts of control systems.

Validation).

In addition, some extremely useful BSI Guides to CE Marking are available, and there are three packages of standards that represent a considerable saving compared with the cost of purchasing the standards separately.
