The PNOZ ms1p is a standstill and speed monitor for use with the unique PNOZmulti software-configurable safety controller.

The new module can monitor two axes independently, and up to four can be used with a PNOZmulti controller.

Hazards on machinery are frequently the result of moving parts, but isolating the power is often inconvenient or inappropriate - especially for commissioning and maintenance.

Slow-moving parts can be acceptable under certain conditions, or power can remain connected so long as there is a system in place to monitor the hazardous mechanism to check that it is not moving.

Standstill and speed monitoring can therefore simplify machine control and improve the efficiency of commissioning, production and maintenance.

The PNOZ ms1p is designed to meet the needs of the machine tool industry, fulfilling the requirements of EN12417 for machining centres and EN12415 for lathes.

Input signals can be received directly from proximity detectors or, by utilising the small PNOZ msi1p adapter, from incremental encoders.

Suitable for use with applications up to Category 3 of EN954-1, the speed and standstill monitoring module can help to minimise downtime if, for example, it is required to run a machine at a reduced speed or to keep the power supply connected in the event of a machine guard being opened for maintenance or commissioning.
