Pilz Automation Technology has developed a one-day training course for teaching delegates how to design hard-wired electrical safety-related control systems for machinery.

Pilz Automation Technology has developed a one-day training course for teaching delegates how to design hard-wired electrical safety-related control systems for machinery By the end of the course, delegates will have gained the necessary knowledge to enable them to design and implement electrical safety-related control circuits in line with current relevant UK standards

Each course starts with a session that outlines the current requirements relating to machinery safety legislation.

This is followed by an overview of the three main standards: BS EN ISO12100:2003 part 1 (Safety of machinery, Basic concepts, general principles for design, Basic terminology and methodology) and part 2 (Safety of machinery, Basic concepts, general principles for design, Technical principles); BS EN60204-1:1998 (Safety of machinery, Electrical equipment of machines, General requirements); and BS EN954-1:1997 (Safety of machinery, Safety related parts of control systems, General principles for design).

There then follows a practical session on the design of circuits.

This covers a broad spectrum from simple emergency stop circuits to more complex safety-related control systems.

As a prerequisite, delegates should have a sound understanding of industrial electrical controls, but there is no need to have any prior knowledge of machinery safety standards because this is provided within the course.

Each course runs from 0900 to 1630 at the Pilz training facilities in Corby, Northamptonshire, although additional courses can also be arranged at customers' premises if required.

Alternatively, companies can reserve all of the places on any of the published dates, provided there are no existing bookings for the preferred course.

A comprehensive package of course documentation is provided for each delegate attending the course, together with a Pilz Certificate of Attendance.

A buffet lunch and light refreshments are included in the cost of the course.

Dates in 2005 for the one-day "Design of hard-wired electrical safety-related control systems for machinery" course are 25th May, 22nd June, 13th July, 10th August, 14th September, 12th October and 9th November.

Contact Pilz for more information about the course or download a PDF information sheet from the training section of the website (found under services).

Places on each course are limited, so register quickly to ensure you get the date that suits you best.
