Safety systems are put to the test
Pilz has developed a structured method for inspecting the safety-critical elements of plant and machinery to enable the suitability of the safety measures to be validated.
Courses cover safety standards and products
Having sold out many of its training courses during the first half of the year, Pilz Automation Technology has now published its course timetable for July to December 2008.
All of this is being offered for just GBP 499, which represents a saving of around GBP 250 compared with the total list price for the individual items of almost GBP 750.
One of the main advantages of the starter package is that the software licence and programming tool kit can be used on all future projects, meaning that the customer only has to purchase a base unit and any additional modules for each application.
For relatively simple machinery with just three to six safety functions, the PNOZ m0p base unit is highly capable yet it is very easy to use.

Monitoring relays allow easy setup
Menu-driven parameter setting is easy, quick and error-proof thanks to the plain text display and a turn-and-click encoder.
Configurator upgrade provides new control options
Status is indicated via LEDs on the front of the analogue input module and, if installed, via the PVIS intelligent diagnostics system and a suitable Pilz display.
It will therefore appeal to machine builders, system integrators and end users alike.
Furthermore, the price is such that the safety controller is viable for both one-off and series machines, whether or not future changes to the software configuration are anticipated.
In line with the other products in the PNOZmulti range, the PNOZ m0p is suitable for applications calling for safety control circuits meeting the requirements of BS EN954-1 Category 2, 3 or 4, or IEC/EN61508 SIL 3.
Unlike the other base units in the PNOZmulti range, the PNOZ m0p cannot be expanded using additional modules, except that it can be used in conjunction with a communications module to enable status information to be transmitted over Profibus DP, DeviceNet, Interbus, CANopen or CC-Link industrial fieldbuses.
One of the key benefits of the PNOZmulti range is the ease of use.
No prior knowledge or experience of programming is required for users to be able to work with the intuitive drag-and-drop configuration software.
Application examples are also included within the software manual.
However, training is available for those users who would like it, either as a half-day or one-day course (contact Pilz for more information).
The PNOZmulti promotional package is being offered by Pilz Automation Technology to all UK customers until the end of November 2005.
