Pilz Automation Technology is now taking bookings for one-day training courses on the design of hard-wired electrical safety-related control systems for machinery, with courses planned for September, October and November 2005 The course is structured to provide delegates with the necessary knowledge to enable them to design and implement electrical safety-related control circuits in line with the current relevant UK standards for machinery safety

Each course starts with a session relating to machinery safety legislation so that delegates gain an appreciation of the current requirements.

This is followed by an overview of the three main standards: BS EN ISO12100:2003 part 1 (Safety of machinery, basic concepts, general principles for design, basic terminology and methodology) and part 2 (Safety of machinery, basic concepts, general principles for design, technical principles); BS EN60204-1:1998 (Safety of machinery, electrical equipment of machines, general requirements); and BS EN954-1:1997 (Safety of machinery, safety related parts of control systems, general principles for design).

After this there is a practical session on the design of circuits, covering a broad spectrum from simple emergency stop circuits to more complex safety-related control systems.

Each course runs from 0900 to 1630 at the Pilz training facilities in Corby, Northamptonshire, and places are currently available on the courses taking place on 14th September, 6th October and 29th November.

If required, additional courses can be arranged at customers' premises.

As a prerequisite, delegates should have an understanding of industrial electrical controls, but there is no need to have any prior knowledge of machinery safety standards because this is provided within the course.

A comprehensive package of course documentation is provided for each person attending the course, together with a Pilz certificate of attendance.

A buffet lunch and light refreshments are included in the cost.
