Safety systems are put to the test
Pilz has developed a structured method for inspecting the safety-critical elements of plant and machinery to enable the suitability of the safety measures to be validated.
Courses cover safety standards and products
Having sold out many of its training courses during the first half of the year, Pilz Automation Technology has now published its course timetable for July to December 2008.
This is true at an organisational and an individual level.
The Pilz one-day training course introduces the standard, explains the fundamentals and, most importantly, shows how the standard's principles can be applied in practice.
Starting with an overview of the scope and structure of IEC/EN61508, the course goes on to clarify the complex relationship between this and other standards such as BS EN954 and IEC/EN62061.
Delegates are then taught about Safety Integrity Levels (SILs) and their determination - using both quantitative and qualitative methods - and there is an explanation of the phases that make up the overall safety lifecycle.
Personal competency within the scope of IEC61508 is also covered, and a session is devoted to the essential topic of hazard and risk analysis and its role as described in IEC/EN61508.
Scheduled to take place at the Pilz training facilities in Corby, Northamptonshire, on 4th October 2005, the course starts at 0900 BST and ends at 1630.
Course documentation and light refreshments are included in the price.
Alternatively, if companies have several delegates interested in attending, Pilz can organise on-site training.
