Pilz Automation Technology consolidated its training services in 2005, with training being delivered almost every week with around 300 individuals and 70 companies benefiting.

Although the standard courses have proved popular, numerous companies have taken advantage of the way Pilz can modify a standard course or create a bespoke course to suit the trainees.

Individuals have benefited by improving their knowledge and competency, gaining skills and, in the case of courses accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and City and Guilds (CandG), obtaining qualifications that are recognised by employers.

Similarly, companies sending staff on the courses have improved the knowledge of their staff, raised the overall competency of the company, and provided staff with necessary skills.

The following standard courses have covered regulations and standards: Machine builders regulations and standards; Design of hard-wired electrical safety-related control systems for machinery; Requirements for maintaining plant and machinery - safety-related controls; Machinery safety (CandG accredited); Managing safety combined with machinery safety and work equipment (IOSH accredited); and Introduction to IEC61508.

In addition, standard courses have been run for customers wanting to learn about Pilz products.

Tailored courses have been created to cover legislation, regulations and standards, as well as specific applications for Pilz products.

Where required, bespoke course have been created from the ground up.

New standard courses are planned for 2006, several of which will be accredited by IOSH or CandG.
